A Journey into Courageous Contribution
What does it take for great professionals to become fantastic leaders, empowered and equipped to 'be the change,' both for themselves and their organisation? We embarked upon this quest with the People Team at Cisco Systems.
Company Overview
Cisco is a global technology leader known for its innovative networking solutions. Founded in 1984, the company specialises in designing, manufacturing, and selling a broad range of products and services related to networking, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Cisco's commitment to innovation, customer-centric solutions, and sustainability has solidified its position as a market leader in the technology sector.
The Programme Solution
Stepping into Courage was devised as an important key to promoting courageous leadership and creating a conscious organisational culture by awakening and harnessing the talent of their most valued employees. It focused on a diverse population of global executives, ranging from early career team leaders to experienced individual contributors, with the goal of supporting them in the development of their confidence, resilience, and impact.
Working closely with Cisco's People team, we designed a four-month programme journey in which five cohorts of up to 16 people progressed through three modules, including three 2-day virtual workshops and ongoing co-working with their 'buddies' to process and apply learning.
The Results
Stepping into Courage supported participants in awakening their authentic selves, igniting their passion, and developing their unique leadership style and impact. It created employees and future leaders who were open to change, growth, and innovation and inspired others to follow by example.
By building community through programme activities, participants were able to sustain their new habits and behaviours and contribute to the collective embodiment of the leadership and culture that Cisco wanted to create.
Testimonial
“The hero’s journey – discussion around the treasures that we bring back when we return. Also the unintentional ripples that we cause can be both positive and negative and it is important to understand what we are putting out into the waters. I cannot thank you enough for these sessions. Best thing I have been a part of – thank you!”
