This is probably the easiest and fastest way to connect back to yourself that we know. In fact, you’re doing it right now. This week, come back to your breathing.
Breathing in, I know that I am breathing in
Breathing out, I know that I am breathing out
In one breath, we can return to mindfulness and consciousness with this simple exercise. If you find that you are losing your way, simply practise this exercise, for 1, 2, 3 or as many breaths as necessary. The breath is the doorway to conscious practice.
True leadership isn’t about being ‘conscious’ all of the time. It’s about knowing how to return to consciousness when you lose ‘it’.
Over the next week, take a moment whenever you remember to breathe slowly and purposefully, and notice how your attention shifts to the present moment. This is where conscious leadership resides.
